White or chalky spots found on your teeth can take away from the overall appearance of your smile. These white spots can also sometimes be the beginning of tooth decay. White spots occur where the breakdown of the enamel has taken place. This can be caused by diet (acidic/sugery food), plaque buildup (lack of brushing), fluorosis (too high intake of fluoride while permanent teeth were developing), and post orthodontic work around metal brackets.
Until now, the only way to remove white spots were with a drill and placing a white colored composite filling or placing a veneer. A new approach is with ICON (R) Caries Infiltration, which soaks into the tooth, halting the progress of tooth decay and removing the white spots. This will only work if the spot is found early enough.
Benefits include: No drilling or anesthesia, one, quick patient visit, microinvasive technology, preserve healthy tooth structure, and increase life expectancy of tooth
While spots might look nice on a dalmatian, its better if your teeth don’t have them. Oxley Dental will be glad to evaluate if you are a candidate for this innovative procedure.
